It seems like
$this->backend->getAddressBook($id) can be null . However, the property $addressBookInfo is declared as array . Maybe change the type of the property to array|null or add a type check?
Our type inference engine has found an assignment of a scalar value (like a string, an integer or null) to a property which is an array. Either this assignment is in error or the assigned type should be added to the documentation/type hint for that property. To type hint that a parameter can be either an array or null, you can set a type hint of array and a default value of null. The PHP interpreter will then accept both an array or null for that parameter. function aContainsB(array $needle = null, array $haystack) {
if (!$needle) {
return false;
}
return array_intersect($haystack, $needle) == $haystack;
}
The function can be called with either null or an array for the parameter ![]() |

The return type of
return $this->backend; (OCA\Contacts\Backend\AbstractBackend ) is incompatible with the return type declared by the interface OCA\Contacts\IPIMObject::getBackend of type OCA\Contacts\AbstractBackend .
If you return a value from a function or method, it should be a sub-type of the type that is given by the parent type f.e. an interface, or abstract method. This is more formally defined by the Lizkov substitution principle, and guarantees that classes that depend on the parent type can use any instance of a child type interchangably. This principle also belongs to the SOLID principles for object oriented design. Let’s take a look at an example: class Author {
private $name;
public function __construct($name) {
$this->name = $name;
}
public function getName() {
return $this->name;
}
}
abstract class Post {
public function getAuthor() {

This code seems to be duplicated across your project.
Duplicated code is one of the most pungent code smells. If you need to duplicate the same code in three or more different places, we strongly encourage you to look into extracting the code into a single class or operation. You can also find more detailed suggestions in the “Code” section of your repository. ![]() |

Are you sure the assignment to
$event is correct as $contact->getBirthdayEvent() (which targets OCA\Contacts\Contact::getBirthdayEvent() ) seems to always return null.
This check looks for function or method calls that always return null and whose return value is assigned to a variable. class A
{
function getObject()
{
return null;
}
}
$a = new A();
$object = $a->getObject();

It seems like you code against a specific sub-type and not the parent class
OCA\Contacts\Backend\AbstractBackend as the method getSearchProvider() does only exist in the following sub-classes of OCA\Contacts\Backend\AbstractBackend : OCA\Contacts\Backend\Database , OCA\Contacts\Backend\Ldap , OCA\Contacts\Backend\Shared . Maybe you want to instanceof check for one of these explicitly?
Let’s take a look at an example: abstract class User
{
/** @return string */
abstract public function getPassword();
}
class MyUser extends User
{
public function getPassword()
{
// return something
}
public function getDisplayName()
{
// return some name.
}
}
class AuthSystem
{
public function authenticate(User $user)
{
$this->logger->info(sprintf('Authenticating %s.', $user->getDisplayName()));
// do something.
}
}
In the above example, the authenticate() method works fine as long as you just pass instances of MyUser. However, if you now also want to pass a different sub-classes of User which does not have a getDisplayName() method, the code will break. Available Fixes
Note: PHP Analyzer uses reverse abstract interpretation to narrow down the types
inside the if block in such a case.

This check marks property names that have not been written in camelCase.
In camelCase names are written without any punctuation, the start of each new word being marked by a capital letter. Thus the name database connection string becomes
databaseConnectionString
.
