Duplicate code is one of the most pungent code smells. A rule that is often used is to re-structure code once it is duplicated in three or more places.
Common duplication problems, and corresponding solutions are:
| 1 | <?php |
| 13 | trait Exception |
| 14 | { |
| 15 | /** |
| 16 | * @Then response has (an) unauthorized exception/error |
| 17 | * @Then response has (a) not authorized exception/error |
| 18 | */ |
| 19 | public function iSeeNotAuthorizedException() |
| 24 | |||
| 25 | /** |
| 26 | * @Then response has (an) invalid field exception/error |
| 27 | */ |
| 28 | View Code Duplication | public function assertInvalidFieldException() |
| 37 | |||
| 38 | /** |
| 39 | * @Then response has a forbidden exception/error with message :message |
| 40 | */ |
| 41 | View Code Duplication | public function assertForbiddenExceptionWithMessage($message) |
| 50 | |||
| 51 | /** |
| 52 | * @Then response has (a) not found exception/error |
| 53 | */ |
| 54 | View Code Duplication | public function assertNotFoundException() |
| 63 | } |
| 64 |
This check looks for methods that are used by a trait but not required by it.
To illustrate, let’s look at the following code example
The trait
Idableprovides a methodequalsIdthat in turn relies on the methodgetId(). If this method does not exist on a class mixing in this trait, the method will fail.Adding the
getId()as an abstract method to the trait will make sure it is available.
